Spring 2009 - News
All the work that launched Ordsall Trust and got it up and running was paid for by Ordsall and Langworthy Community Committee. Thanks to them. Unfortunately this funding ran out, far too soon. If the Trust is to make more progress, then we have to find a way to pay volunteers and helpers. An application was prepared in November 2007 for the Lottery Board, 'Awards for All', but was unsuccessful. Eighteen months later, we're trying again. Watch this space for news about its progress. Last News - Spring 2008
The Lottery Fund 'Awards for All' saw fit to reject Ordsall Trust's application for a small grant. This is a big set-back, and means that now there can't be any of the planned activity in the Spring of 2008, and, in fact, much of anything until new funding can be found. Any ideas? It could be your Trust in the future. Let's hear from you. Any suggestions of funding sources, use the 'Contact Us' page. Thanks Archive News - summer of 2007
Everyone was invited to 'The Everyone Centre'. It's on Robert Hall Street, Ordsall, at the Oldfield Road end. (Same site as the Library, 'Scallywags' nursery and the Housing Office.) If you'd gone in the door on the left and straight ahead of you, you'd see a large meeting room. If you'd pushed on in and picked up your free tea and biscuits, you could have heard the discussion and taken part. It was on Monday, 16th July 2007 It started on time, 2pm (and was over in an hour) People who came along, found out more and urged further action. It was agreed to make progress.
Members of Langworthy and Ordsall Community Committee were treated to a Powerpoint presentation at their meeting in The Everyone Centre, Ordsall, on 3rd July, Tuesday. It took a while for the computer to get going (the meeting was a 7pm start) and it worked - mostly, apart from the end - but it was exciting and interesting to start discussions about the future of Ordsall Trust with a short presentation. Not everyone was keen to see the project going ahead immediately, and there were calls for more research. Questions were asked, and it was decided to take the queries to a meeting of the Community Forum on 17th July, 10am in The Everyone Centre, Robert Hall Street, Ordsall for further discussion, chaired by Ordsall Neighbourhood Manager, Ross Spanner (tel 603 4090) There was no consensus, but most people agreed that there needed to be more consultation and a concerted effort to recruit residents as members and supporters. The residents of Ordsall needed to have their say, it was agreed. Since plans have already been made for events in the area in the summer, and the Ordsall Festival is scheduled for the end of September, those places seem to be the best place to start. Look out for the Trust stall at these events. Hopefully, we'll have a table and members will be there to talk to you. © 2007 by Salford LIDS, bringing you Ordsall Trust
